Gales was injured and had to spend the last five months in rehab after a September match against the University of Georgia. Following the game, Gales was taken to a hospital in Atlanta where he learned to become mobile again.

"I remember the whole thing," Gales said in an exclusive interview Wednesday on WBRZ News 2 at 10:00. "Going to block, putting my head down, and knowing that I couldn't get up."

WBRZ News 2 television reporter Brett Buffington is the only reporter with Gales this week as he starts his recovery outside of the hospital and makes his way home.

Thursday morning, Gales joined the UGA football team in a news conference.  There, the charity Triumph Over Tragedy announced it was raising money to build Gales and his family a home that can accommodate the equipment he needs to move around.
