Massive fire burns through warehouse, firefighter treated for injuries during blaze
BATON ROUGE - A 2-alarm fire at the Superior Millworks warehouse is being investigated by the Baton Rouge Fire Department.
BRFD officials said the blaze at the Paris Avenue warehouse began just before 4 a.m. Sunday.
"When fire fighters arrived on the scene, the entire structure and all of its contents were engulfed in flames. They attempted to enter the building two times, but it was just too intense," Curt Monte of the Baton Rouge Fire Department said.
One firefighter was treated on scene by paramedics for minor injures. Officials said he is expected to be okay.
The building was a total loss. The damage to the building was estimated at $700,000, while the contents inside were worth around $1.5 million.
Fire officials said they expected firefighters to be on the scene for several hours Sunday to extinguish hot spots.
