UPDATE: Police arrest suspect in Denham Springs shooting Monday night

DENHAM SPRINGS - The Denham Springs Police Department arrested 24-year-old Brian Allen responsible for a Monday night shooting in Denham Springs, killing a man and leaving one in critical condition. According to Detective Lemoine, Allen has been charged with first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, and felon in possession of a firearm.

Authorities identified 24-year-old Derick Stewart as one of the victims killed in the shooting off of Pete's Highway south of Hwy. 190.

The two men were taken to a Baton Rouge hospital following the shooting. The second victim, who was stuck by a bullet in the leg, is expected to survive.

Police say there were two scenes on MLK Street. The two victims were riding in a car when they were shot and crashed into a parked car. The two people ran several blocks down the street before they collapsed.

Denham Springs Police Department received a tip that Allen was at Oak Village Apartments. Allen will be booked in Denham City jail and then taken to Livingston Parish Prison.
