UPDATE: The boil water advisory issued for Iberville Parish Water District 3 has been lifted.

IBERVILLE PARISH-Due to a significant increase in water distribution during the cold temperatures, some Iberville Parish Water District 3 customers are experiencing discolored water caused by a pressure change in the water system.

Utility crews will begin flushing the lines Saturday morning to eliminate the issue.  Officials say some customers may experience low pressure while crews are flushing the lines.

A boil alert remains in effect for all Water District 3 customers.

A boil alert advisory has been issued for Iberville Parish.

A boil advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure due to loss of water pressure within the water system for Iberville Parish Water District 3 customers, Parish President J. Mitchell Ourso, Jr. said in a statement Wednesday afternoon.

It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it, making ice, brushing teeth or using it for food preparation or rinsing of food.

The Iberville Parish Utility Department is requesting customers limit their water consumption during this period of freezing temperatures.

According to a post from the Iberville Parish Council, the use of additional water is causing a strain on the parish water supply and may lead to low pressure or no water for some customers.

The parish advises if people let cold water drip overnight from a faucet it should be a trickle.
