CLINTON – One person was charged in connection with a series of shootings in East Feliciana Parish Wednesday.

State and local authorities announced the arrest during a press conference Wednesday evening.

Ryan Sharpe, 36, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first degree murder by EFPSO and and one count of first-degree murder by EBRSO.

Detectives apprehended Sharpe after a pursuit Wednesday afternoon, according to officials. They say Sharpe was armed when he was caught and confessed to the shootings.

Detectives said the investigation is ongoing, so details on the suspect's motive were limited.

Task force agents spread across East Feliciana near the parish line with East Baton Rouge confiscated a vehicle and took the suspect into custody as part of an on-going triple murder investigation.

The vehicle was taken away by authorities around 4:30 p.m. from Lee Price Road in East Feliciana Parish. A short while later, authorities confirmed that one person had been taken into custody as well.

“I'm very hopeful, that in a short while... we'll be able to [release] those developments,” the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff told WBRZ reporter Mark Armstrong around 4 o'clock Wednesday.

Shortly after the announcement, a heavy law enforcement presence rolled out to a portion of Highway 959 west of Highway 63.

The task force has been hunting for suspects after a series of apparent random shootings killed three men and injured a fourth. The shootings started in July and most recently left a Boy Scout leader dead outside his home earlier this week.
