WBRZ reporter Brett Buffington broke the story first on Twitter. State Police confirmed Shevis Ball was booked with DWI and careless operation after a single vehicle crash on La 16 south of La 63.
Parish officials said they were aware of the crash and criminal allegations and placed Ball on administrative leave.
Ball has worked with the parish since 2012. He is a paid liaison, working with the parish waste collector handling sewer calls. It was typical for him to be driving a parish vehicle, Parish President Layton Ricks said.
