Police identify woman shot, killed at Baton Rouge event hall
BATON ROUGE - A woman found shot inside an event rental hall has died, police advised Wednesday evening.
Initially, two people were reported shot. A man was injured and sought medical attention before first responders arrived. A woman, 49-year-old Youlanda Hunter was found by first responders at the business. Police say both victims were shot during a robbery at the business
The situation started shortly after 11 a.m. when the man went looking for help after being shot near the corner of Plank and Chippewa. Police roped off the Renaissance Center with crime scene tape. The woman was found inside the event center.
The Renaissance Center, 2783 Plank, is at the corner of Plank and Chippewa.
The man tried to get help at Baton Rouge General Mid City, authorities said. The Mid City hospital location does not have an emergency room.
Specifics about the shooting have not been released by police. Just before 6 p.m., a spokesperson said the case report had not been made available. It was unclear if there was still an active search for the shooter.
