CENTRAL- The body of a local Marine was welcomed home over the weekend.

Lance Corporal Taylor Conrad'sremains were flown from California and brought to the funeral home in Denham Springs Saturday. Despite the rain, dozens of people lined Range Avenue to pay their respects to the fallen Marine.

Conrad was killed in a helicopter crash in California earlier this month. The Marine was a Central High graduate and was beloved by many.

Visitation for Conrad begins at 5 p.m. at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday.  

The Central Police Department will be escorting Conrad for Monday's visitation and again for Tuesday's funeral.
