BATON ROUGE - Authorities responded to reports of multiple shootings in the Baton Rouge area that left at least one person dead Wednesday.
One person was killed in a shooting in the 3200 block of Plank Road around 1:45 p.m.
Police identified the victim as a 36-year-old black male, found on the ground with a ski mask and hand gun, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Officers say a masked suspect was last seen leaving the area in a dark colored vehicle.
A witness of the shooting said that he heard gunshots and his girlfriend saw a man with a mask run through the backyard of a nearby home.
According to Baton Rouge Police, another shooting was reported on Lorraine Street at Breckinridge Avenue around 2 p.m. BRPD later said that the victim was "pistol whipped" with a gun, rather than shot. The victim appeared to be okay while on the scene.
