Police: Home invader shot multiple times on Victoria Drive arrested

UPDATE: The home invader that was shot after trying to break into an apartment has been charged with home invasion.

Daniel Hinton, 34, is accused of breaking into an apartment on Victoria Drive on March 6. After breaking into the apartment, Hinton was shot multiple times by one of the residents. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Arrest reports say that Hinton has a history of armed robbery arrests.

BATON ROUGE- Police are investigating a home invasion on Victoria Drive that sent one person to the hospital.

Tuesday around 5 a.m. authorities say a 34-year-old man kicked in the door and forced his way into an apartment that was occupied by three people.

One of the residents armed himself with a handgun and shot the suspect multiple times. According to a release, the suspect attempted to flee the scene on foot but collapsed outside the apartment.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive his injuries. After he is released, the suspect will be booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for home invasion.
