SORRENTO - Authorities are investigating a deadly crash that took the life of a 19-year-old on I-10 East in Ascension Parish Tuesday.

The crash was reported around 12:45 p.m. on I-10 near LA 22. The sheriff's office says deputies found the car engulfed in flames at the scene. 19-year-old Quincy Clark Jr. of St. Rose died at the scene.

According to Louisiana State Police, Clark was traveling east on I-10 in the 1997 Ford Crown Victoria when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree along the interstate.

Police say his vehicle then caught fire while he was still inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The incident is still under investigation.
