BAYWOOD – One person is dead after an 18-wheeler overturned on Greenwell Springs Road Friday morning.

The crash took the life of 47-year-old Richard Boudreaux.

According to Louisiana State Police, the crash occurred as 59-year-old Donald Gill was traveling southbound on Greenwell Springs Road in an 18-wheeler. For reasons still under investigation, Gill ran off the right side of the road. Gill's vehicle struck a tree and overturned.

State Police say that Boudreaux was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, however a toxicology sample from Gill will be taken for analysis.

According to Louisiana State Police, criminal charges are pending.
