BATON ROUGE - A knife-wielding man attacked his family and injured himself Thursday night, according to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office.

Sources told WBRZ there were multiple people injured in a home off Anselmo Lane, including at least three children. The 911 operators dispatched crews to the 3000 block of Myrtle Grove Drive.

A neighbor at the scene said she never suspected something like this could happen in her neighborhood.

"It was scary and just shocking. We were trying to figure out what was going on," Danielle Rainwater said. ""It's super quiet, it's super friendly, everyone is always looking out for each other."

According to an affidavit, 29-year-old Dung Tran admitted to stabbing his children in an attempt to kill them. Tran then began stabbing himself just before deputies arrived.

Tran's wife and 18-month-old child remain in the hospital. At this point, the injuries don't appear to be life-threatening.

The suspect is in EBRSO custody while he receives medical attention.

The investigation is still ongoing.
