Autopsy reveals LSU student Balser's death was result of mixing alcohol, drugs
BATON ROUGE – The coroner announced Wednesday that the autopsy of LSU student Benjamin Balser revealed his death was the result of "combined effects of cocaethylene, alprazolam and alcohol."
The office has determined Balser's death was accidental.
Benjamin Balser was found dead in an apartment on E. Boyd during the weekend of Oct. 13th. LSU confirmed Balser was a student and had previously been a member of a fraternity.
The death investigation comes weeks after the on-campus death of Max Gruver. Gruver died, authorities suspect, after drinking too much while being hazed at his fraternity house. Ten fraternity members were booked into jail in connection with his death last week.
There is no connection between Gruver's death and the death of Balser.
