BATON ROUGE - A prominent businessman who previously said he would back a loan needed to build a new bridge across the Mississippi River Bridge has unveiled a name and logo for the potential project.

Jim Bernhard, of Bernhard Capital Partners, told the Baton Rouge Press Club Monday the road will be called the Capital Bridge and the Capital Expressway.

Last week during an off-the-cuff morning radio show, Bernhard also said his company would be interested in underwriting the bonds for a “new” bridge. 

Reports say a third bridge over the river in the Greater Baton Rouge area would cost upwards of $1 billion.
