BILOXI, MS- Hurricane Nate made landfall just before 7 p.m. Saturday at the mouth of Mississippi River.

Weather experts say the fast-moving category 1 storm could dump between 3-6 inches of rain water with isolated areas receiving a possible 10 inches. Several Biloxi businesses and beach-front homes were evacuated in anticipation of the storm.

The National Weather Service says Nate is a fast-moving storm that is heading northwestward toward Alabama with wind gusts up to 85 mph.

The WBRZ weather team has been tracking this storm since its development and says the possibility of the hurricane causing severe damage to Louisiana residents is fairly unlikely. However, areas located in southeastern Louisiana should stay vigilant for possible heavy rainfall.
