Hackers posing as administrator get 200 workers' W-2 forms
NEW ROADS – Hospital officials at Pointe Coupee General said compromised tax documents were accessed during a “security breach."
Two-hundred documents were obtained in an email hack attack, hospital administrator Chad Olinde said.
A source inside the hospital told WBRZ News 2 reporter Brett Buffington someone forwarded W-2 forms of hospital employees to hackers posing as Olinde. The hospital administrator declined to get into the details of the data leak, however Olinde added, no patient information was involved.
Olinde said the hospital asked the Louisiana Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit to investigative but it does not handle such types of complaints.
“We take the privacy and security of our employee information very seriously. We are working with ID Experts to provide our employees the resources to protect their information, and will provide whatever cooperation is necessary for the IRS/CI to hold the perpetrators accountable," Olinde said.
