CLINTON - Residents in Clinton are still under a water boil advisory after a line break Thursday.
After the advisory was issued, Gov. John Bel Edwards called in the National Guard to hand out water and supplies. Since 10 a.m. Friday people have been passing out water bottles to residents.
Officials say the boil water advisory will be in place until rescinded by the Town of Clinton. It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming, making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing foods.
"These types of water problems are certainly an inconvenience, but they can also be life threatening in some cases due to the heat, which is why it is important for the public to heed all warnings and take the necessary safety precautions," said Edwards.
