Coroner ID's man who slipped off roof at University House apartments
BATON ROUGE - A 20-year-old man has fallen off the rooftop at the University House apartments near LSU's campus Tuesday morning.
The East Baton Rouge Coroner's Office identified the 20-year-old man as Jacob Seaman. The death, according to the Coroner's Office was ruled as accidental and the cause of death was mufti-system trauma, secondary to the fall.
According to the Coroner's Office Seaman was swimming in a pool that is on the roof of the apartments and tried to walk across a ledge and slipped.
His body was found near the parking lot of the complex.
According to a Baton Rouge Police Department spokesperson, investigators had no reason to believe that the man worked or lived at the apartment complex.
LSU confirmed to WBRZ that Seaman was a student at LSU and graduated in May. According to LSU, Seaman planned to begin a graduate program in the Department of Petroleum Engineering in the fall.
LSU’s University House released a statement about the incident in a social media post. According to the post, the witness who call in the emergency was a friend of Seaman and that he accidentally fell from the roof.
The LSU Health Center/Mental Health Center is offering counseling services to student residents or those who may need assistance regarding the incident.
