All four escaped inmates captured; three deputies fired

UPDATE: Sheriff Scott Anslum says that during the course of an investigation into the facts surrounding the escape of four inmates, it was determined that three deputies "failed to follow proper security protocol as required."

Those deputies are no longer employed by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities began investigating the escapes Sunday.

The four escaped inmates have been captured.

William Deans was located in Morgan City, LA, during the early morning hours of Monday. Two other inmates, 28-year-old Jamie Scarbrough and 18-year-old Tanner Scarbrough, were located and apprehended by the Picayune Police Department in Picayune, Mississippi.

Authorities located Elias Todd at a residence in Berwick, after Deputies secured a search warrant for the residence.

Four other suspects were arrested as a result of the investigation. Brooke Mcmanus, Bonita Federer, Brandon Collier, and William Haff are all facing charges of assisting escape.

ST. MARY PARISH - The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office is currently searching for four inmates who escaped the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center early Sunday morning.

According to the Sheriff's Office, 39-year-old William Deans, 28-year-old Jamie Scarbrough, 18-year-old Tanner Scarbrough and 24-year-old Elias Todd are the four who escaped.

No further information regarding the escape was provided. The Sheriff's Office has altered neighboring law enforcement agencies of the escape.

The inmates were being held on the following charges:
• W. Deans - domestic abuse by strangulation.
• J. Scarbrough - illegal possession of stolen things, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of marijuana.
• T. Scarbrough - illegal possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm with an obliterated number.
• E. Todd - theft of a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstruction of justice, theft, and criminal damage to property.

A physical description of the inmates are as follows:
• W. Deans, white male, 5'6, weighing 160 pounds.
• J. Scarbrough, white male, 5'9, weighing 150 pounds, and has tattoos on neck and facial area.
• T. Scarbrough, white male, 5'11, weighing 150 pounds.
• E. Todd, white male, 5'8, weighing 170 pounds, and has tattoos on neck and facial area; specifically, the number "33" on his forehead.

Deputies with the Sheriff's Office and other agencies are searching the area.

"If you see an influx of law enforcement, please step inside and keep your doors locked. If you see any suspicious activities or suspects that fit this description in your area call 911 immediately," the Sheriff's Office said in a press release.

The circumstances surrounding their escape is under investigation. Check back for updates.
