Telephone pole busted for months, utility companies waiting on others

DENHAM SPRINGS - The aftermath of a car accident that happened three months ago, is a constant reminder for one family. They've been trying to get the telephone pole outside their home fixed since then, but to no avail.
Three different utilities companies, DEMCO, COX Communications and AT&T must work together and it's taken some time for that to happen.
Ray Rushing sits on the front porch every day waving to cars as they drive by. For the last three months he's been staring at an eyesore. A car ran into the pole one day and damaged the telephone pole. Splintered wood, sharp plastic and wiring sticks out from the busted pole and cable box.
"It don't look good, didn't look good at all," said Rushing.
Rushing says he couldn't get anyone to help, until he called 2 On Your Side.
"Called and called and called..." he said. "They must have gotten the hunch that y'all were coming out here."
After 2 On Your Side contacted the utility companies involved, a crew from AT&T was at the home first thing Thursday morning making repairs.
While the services have been working properly, Cox Communications says it was waiting on AT&T to transfer its lines to the new DEMCO pole. Now the old pole, which is laying on the ground, must be removed before COX can change the pedestal box. Officials say it must be done in this order.
