Livingston school bus drivers in short supply

LIVINGSTON PARISH - School officials say their pool of substitute bus drivers is dwindling and they're trying to recruit as many as they can.
"We're kind of down to a minimul number of subs and we're trying to get that up," said Jeff Frizell, transportation supervisor.
Frizell says there are currently 290 full-time bus drivers. He says thirty of his substitutes transitioned into full-time drivers this year, leaving the department with hardly any subs.
As the school system searches for more drivers, they're asking parents to be patient. If a bus driver calls out, and there are no readily available subs, Frizell says students may have to ride on a different bus, sometimes causing schedule delays.
Interested candidates are encouraged to attend classes September 5-8 and 11-15. More information can be found here.
