ZACHARY - The Zachary school district released its return to campus plan, which shows a hybrid learning model should the state remain in Phase 2 of reopening.

School will start Monday, August 10, according to an extensive explanation posted on the school district's website. The statement outlined a new hybrid learning model for students to transition back to school.

That model included students returning to school with smaller class sizes and face-to-face instruction. The hybrid model also includes students alternating between in-person school days and using an online learning tool from home.

"The Zachary Community School District will be among some of the first school districts in the United States to bring students back into the buildings during this pandemic. The utilization of the Hybrid learning model, during this transition time, will allow our district to evaluate and determine possible effects on the safety of our students and employees based on the current school sizes and configurations," the statement reads.

The district states that without this learning model, they could potentially resort to virtual classes instead.

School bus occupancy will be decreased, the district said.
