Woman charged with DWI after falling asleep in car, blocking traffic
BATON ROUGE – Police say a 43-year-old woman was charged with DWI after she fell asleep behind the wheel, blocking traffic Sunday morning.
Baton Rouge Police said other drivers found Roslyn Jack sleeping behind the wheel of her car on Government Street around 2:30 a.m.
Police believe she fell asleep while waiting for a train to pass through a railroad crossing.
When BRPD made contact with Jack, officers said they smelled a strong odor of alcohol and noticed that she had red blood shot eyes, slurred speech and was swaying.
BRPD said she was unable to perform a field sobriety test and failed a breath test. She was then placed under arrest.
Baton Rouge Police said Jack has been arrested for DWI three times, once in 2012 and twice in 2013. Her driver’s license was also suspended because of the previous arrests.
