THIBODAUX - The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a woman Tuesday after she falsely accused a man of domestic abuse.

On June 29, 2017 Sandra Brooks, 49, filed a report alleging she was physically abused by Carl Johnson Sr., 57, and included an audio recording of an encounter with Johnson in February of 2017. Brooks also filed a similar report with Johnson's employer, the National Football League. Johnson is an NFL referee and a former vice president of officiating.

After reviewing the audio recordings and interviewing both parties, investigators determined that Brooks was the predominate aggressor in the incident and allegedly committed battery on Johnson.

The Lafourche Sheriff's Office informed Brooks in October that no charges would be filed against Johnson and that they would be pursuing charges on her. Investigators later discovered that hospital medical records contradict Brook's injury claims and that the audio recordings were made during an attempt to provoke Johnson.

Brooks faces charges including domestic abuse, defamation and filing a false report.
