Woman accused of smoking pot in BREC park near school
BATON ROUGE - Police reported the arrest of a woman accused of smoking marijuana in a BREC park in close proximity to a Baton Rouge school.
Kiawanna Moore was booked on charges of possession of marijuana, obstruction of justice, resisting an officer and possession of a CDS in a drug free zone following her Thursday arrest.
BRPD says an officer was working a special assignment at a BREC park located on Tams Drive when he observed Moore smoking a suspect marijuana cigar while sitting on a bench in the southeast corner of the park.
The officer said when he attempted to make contact with Moore, she walked toward a canal and tried to toss the cigar into it. The officer caught up to Moore and placed the woman in handcuffs. During the arrest, Moore attempted to pull away from the officer, causing the arresting officer to be forced to take her to the ground.
After a brief struggle, police said the woman was finally handcuffed. Police later located the marijuana cigar in the exact location where it was seen being thrown just south of where the officer initially made contact with Moore.
