BATON ROUGE - The wife and attorney of a man who has been charged in the murder of a Baton Rouge teacher were interviewed on Monday night on the Nancy Grace show.

Kala Marks, the wife of Robert Marks who was booked on first degree murder and first degree feticide charges after the body of school administrator Lyntell Washington was found, remained in support of her husband throughout the interview.

Washington's 3-year-old daughter was found wandering in a parking lot alone near her mother's car with blood inside on June 9. It was revealed during the investigation that Marks and Washington were romantically involved.

Washington was seven months pregnant at the time of her death with what is believed to Marks' child, according to investigators. Her body was found in a ditch near Rosedale, and autopsy results revealed that Washington was shot in the head.

On the Nancy Grace show, Kala Marks along with Robert Marks' attorney, Lionel Lon Burns, were questioned about the recent events.

Marks was the assistant principal at the same school where Washington was employed as an administrator. Kala Marks said that she did not know who Washington was and had "no clue" if she and her husband were romantically involved.

"Honestly, I really don't know what to think or what to feel. I hope not, but I'm not sure," Kala Marks said.

Kala Marks also said that her husband was watching a basketball game with a friend the night of Washington's murder, however she said that she did not know the name of that friend. She also stated that her husband came home later that night.

"It was about 12:15-ish. I was in the bed sleeping and I woke up and I realized he wasn't home so I called him and it just so happened he was coming in the neighborhood," Kala Marks said.

Marks said that she did not notice what clothes he was wearing at the time he left that night when asked by Grace during the interview.

"I really didn't pay attention to when he left and when he came home I was in the bed sleeping worried that he was on his motorcycle at night and where was he at 12," Kala Marks said.

Marks also said that her husband did not contact her that night, however it was normal "if he knows that I'm sleeping in bed."

Burns, Robert Marks' attorney, mentioned that Marks has not told his wife anything in spite of what authorities are saying.

"The very interesting thing about this is that we're hearing 'Mr. Marks said this, Mr. Marks said that' from the Baton Rouge Police Department, but had he said anything, the first thing he would have told them was 'I'm actually Dr. Robert Marks and again get me an attorney,'" Burns said.

Burns added that the only witness in the case is Washington's 3-year-old daughter and told detectives that "Mr Robbie put my mommy in the lake."

"When the remains of the victim were discovered, they were no where near a lake or near any water body so the Baton Rouge Police Department has already discredited their only witness,' Burns said.

Kala Marks said during the interview that she does not believe that her husband could have murdered Washington.

"He's a loving husband...I just don't see how he could do it. I'm really just at a loss for words," Kala Marks said.
