PORT ALLEN - A man was found shot dead in the bedroom closet of his home this morning, authorities revealed.

Family members identified the victim as Fatrell Queen, 27.  Police found Queen dead after a 911 call from a neighbor around 5 o'clock this morning who reported hearing gunfire coming from the home on Burbridge Street, about a block from the town middle school.

It's the first homicide since 2013 in this usually sleepy west side community.

"We've got a lot of groundwork to do," the police chief told news outlets gathered outside the crime scene Thursday morning.  So far, there are no signs anyone broke into the home and there is no motive or suspect.
