Victim of Kindletree Drive shooting dies
BATON ROUGE - Deputies say one person was killed after a shooting Wednesday night on Kindletree Drive, off Jefferson Highway. It left the neighbors in the upscale Round Oak subdivision tense.
According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, Jesse Trejos, 20, was pronounced dead at a local hospital after a shooting on the 9400 block of Kindletree Drive around 8:20 p.m.
Thursday, the neighborhood was gripped with fear.
"You can't get complacent with anything," Angie Thompson said. "Even though you think we have a safe haven back here, no body comes back here except for the people that live here, and you have to be vigilant all the time. It's sad the world has come to that."
Other neighbors like Leo Laurent echoed those sentiments, and are now packing heat and taking precautions.
"Very quiet, you never see anything happen," Laurent said. "It's real quiet, peaceful and real good."
Thursday the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office said they believe Trejos knew the suspects, however they said it's too early to tell who may have been involved.

"There was a vehicle seen fleeing the scene, and we are interviewing all those that are witnesses to this to try to figure out exactly what happened," Casey Hicks with the EBR Sheriff's Office said.
We checked Trejos' criminal record. He had no convictions, however a warrant was issued for his arrest for possessing prescription medication. However, we've learned he was never arrested on that warrant.
Right now, anyone with information is urged to call EBRSO, at 225-389-5000.
