Update: Uncle of toddler killed in St. Martin Parish arrested in connection with the crime

ARNAUDVILLE - Deputies are investigating a shooting that left a 3-year-old dead.

According to a St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson, the shooting occurred in the 1000 block of Kennedy Drive around 7:20 p.m.

A 3-year-old male victim was airlifted from the scene to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition. Deputies announced around 10:30 p.m. the child had passed away.

Following an investigation of the shooting, deputies have arrested the child's 28-year-old uncle Dracolby Numa Journet of Arnaudville, La.

Journet was booked and charged with the following:

-One count - Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm

-One count - Obstruction of Justice

He was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on Nov. 3rd. No bond has been set yet.

The shooting has been ruled as accidental and the investigation remains on-going.
