BATON ROUGE - A trial date has been set for a former East Feliciana Parish Coroner accused of trying to defraud the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner's Office.

Laura DeJohn will be back in court on May 28, 2019.

DeJohn was arrested in March 2017 and charged with malfeasance in office, criminal conspiracy, and injuring public documents. Earlier this year, DeJohn pleaded not guilty to those charges.

WBRZ previously reported that DeJohn allegedly failed to maintain Louisiana's record retention law by not keeping records during her administration. She is also accused of submitting fraudulent billing invoices for unlicensed medical services.

DeJohn's former deputy coroner Melaine Vines was also arrested for her involvement.
