BATON ROUGE- Perkins Rowe will soon be the home to a gourmet “paleteria” or popsicle specialty shop slated to open in May.

The new popsicle shop, Rock n' Pops, will be across from Barnes & Noble, near California Pizza Kitchen in Perkins Rowe.

The shop will feature 21 flavors of homemade popsicles. The brand is a part of the rock n’roll themed Creole-Mexican fusion restaurant Lava Cantina Baton Rouge.

Rock n’ Pops will have seven fruit-based popsicles and seven Ambrosia Bakery cake and cream based popsicles.

Popsicle favors include Fat Elvis, a peanut butter and cream base rolled in chocolate and sprinkled with candied bacon,  Wedding Cake, which is a popsicle rolled with Ambrosia Bakery cake dipped in a cream base,  and Rocky Road, a chocolate base dipped in chocolate and rolled in chocolate chunks, almonds and marshmallows.

The shop is slated to open May 16.
