NEW ROADS- Police are investigating after a baby girl was found alive in Walmart trash can in New Roads.

Sources close to the investigation believe the girl was born inside the bathroom. Police say the child was just six hours old and spent an estimated four hours in the trash can. She was found inside a plastic bag.

The child was initially taken to Pointe Coupee General in stable condition. The little girl has since been flown by helicopter to Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital.
