Smokie Bourgeois enters race for EBR mayor
BATON ROUGE - Former Metro Councilman Smokie Bourgeois entered a crowded race for mayor Saturday morning.
“My parents’ house was right up the street. I rode my bicycle all around and to downtown. That’s why I know it’s uphill all the way to downtown. Today I’m officially doing it again. Riding uphill to get downtown to the Mayor-President’s office.” Bourgeois said.
Bourgeois is running on a platform he called “For the Whole Parish;" saying he will talk to and meet everyone in East Baton Rouge.
“Each part of our parish has different problems that require different solutions. One size does not fit all. Make NO mistake, I am focused on the WHOLE PARISH.”
Bourgeois continued, “Our campaign and administration will focus on common sense solutions to the problems facing our great community."
Bourgeois is the owner of George’s restaurant.
