Bonds set for family members who helped shooter flee parish after Plaquemine killing
PLAQUEMINE - Deputies have arrested two family members accused of helping a killer flee Iberville Parish after a deadly shooting last week.
The victim, identified as 24-year-old Kendrick Carter, was found dead in someone's yard on Kember Drive Friday morning. The Iberville Sheriff's Office said it was investigating the case as a homicide but released few details at the time.
On Monday, the department announced it had arrested the suspect's father, Mario Harmason, and the suspect's step-mother, Alicia Harmason. The suspect, 18-year-old Nikeis LeBant, is still being sought.
Both Harmasons' bonds were set at $250,000.
The sheriff's office said Mario Harmason is suspected of driving his son to the New Orleans area after the shooting.
Deputies did not immediately detail Alicia Harmason's involvement. Both face charges for obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact to second-degree murder.
