SORRENTO - A Sorrento Council member and his wife pleaded not guilty to federal charges they illegally claimed thousands of dollars of Gulf oil spill recovery money.
Randy Anny and his wife Barbara entered their pleas in federal court in Baton Rouge Thursday morning. They both face charges of conspiracy and wire fraud from a recent grand jury indictment.
The indictment accused the Anny's of submitting a false claim in December 2010 to the Gulf Coast Claims Facility. The claim asked for $7,800 to repair the couple's boat and trailer, and that they also sent in a faked receipt for the repairs.
