Police: Man arrested after he took neighbor's dog, set it loose in parking lot
DENHAM SPRINGS - Police say a man took his neighbor's dog and set it loose outside a business because he was fed up with the animal coming onto his property.
The dog was identified as two-year-old Tarzan. For three weeks, a family has been fostering the chocolate Lab. They say he got out on Sunday by accident.
"He didn't have a collar on because his shock collar was charging. My daughter opened the door, and he ran out," the family told WBRZ.
The Denham Springs Police Department shared footage of the crime, taken early Wednesday morning outside a smoke shop on US 190. The video shows the man opening the driver's side door and taking the collar off of the dog before letting it free. The man then drove off, leaving the dog behind.
The dog was later found safe by police. Tarzan's family saw the Facebook post and immediately went to get him.
"When I saw it, I commented and told the girl he is our foster. I called them, and they said animal control got him, so I went to get him from the shelter," a foster family member said.
Police said they located the suspect, identified as Joshua Tudor. He was issued a citation for animal cruelty.

When questioned by police, he reportedly admitted to the crime and told officers that he was unhappy the dog kept coming over to his property from a neighbor's house.
Tarzan was returned home, and he's back in his electric collar. His foster family said he's been responding well to the beeps.
They also said that the video posted to Facebook was difficult for them to watch.
"It's heartbreaking. I think he knew the man for sure because he got excited when he came back to the car," they said.
Tarzan's foster family says he is adoptable but currently undergoing treatment for heartworms.
