Woman arrested after deadly hit-and-run in Ascension Parish
PRAIRIEVILLE - A woman is in jail after she allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian with her car Monday morning.
The crash was reported just before 7:00 a.m. on Highway 73 in Prairieville, across the street from a preschool. Police say 31-year-old Christian Martinez of Kenner was killed in the crash.
According to Louisiana State Police, the driver fled the scene of the crash with significant damage to the vehicle.

Hours later, police located the vehicle and the suspected driver, identified as 29-year-old Brittany Mackie of Prairieville. She was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail for negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run resulting in death, careless operation and failure to report a crash.
