BATON ROUGE - One person is dead after a vehicle crashed into the back of a tanker truck late Thursday night. 

According to police, the tanker was stopped at a railroad crossing shortly before midnight in the 10600 block of Scenic Highway. BRPD says the tanker was carrying hazardous materials at the time.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Travis Curry, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. He was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the tanker was not seriously hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.
