BATON ROUGE - The second police academy of 2015 begins Monday morning.

The mayor made crime fighting a priority in this year's budget, allocating funds for two training classes for new officers. The first happened earlier this year.

There are 26 recruits this time. The academy runs 22 weeks.

Recruits report shortly after sunrise Monday.

After the academy, they'll work the streets for some time with veteran officers.
