Photo released of bank robbery suspect
BATON ROUGE - Police released a photo of the man who detectives said robbed a Baton Rouge bank Monday and left behind a suspicious device.
Baton Rouge Police said the man went into the Chase Bank at 3012 Government Street around 9:40 a.m. and went to a teller's window, demanding money.
Police said the teller gave the money to the man, who dropped a "suspicious item" into the teller's window and fled on foot. Members of the Baton Rouge Police Explosives Unit took the item and destroyed it outside the bank.
Several schools in the area were put on lockdown when the robbery was reported. Those lockdowns were lifted around 12:30 p.m.
Police said the robber is a black male, 40-45 years old, around six feet tall and wearing a green flannel shirt, green pants, and brown boots with a green beanie cap.
