Motorists see delays as stretch of Airline reopens
BATON ROUGE - Airline Highway from Prescott Road to Evangeline Street is back open to traffic after high water kept the roadway closed during the weekend.
Traffic officials urge patience for motorists as delays can be expected in the area. Viewers of our Facebook Live stream said bumper-to-bumper traffic is the norm right now as residents start to head back to work.
Additional traffic will be funneled onto Airline Highway throughout the day as the heavily traveled I-10 East remains closed between Prairieville and Siegen Lane. Motorists are being detoured onto Airline as an alternate route.
Other roadways, like Highland Road from Airline to I-10, were slowly coming back online as the city struggled back to life. A list of Baton Rouge road closures is available here. You can check LA DOTD’s map of closures to help set a route for moving about the city.
