Motorcyclist dies in Pointe Coupee Parish crash
POINTE COUPEE – State Police say one man is dead after his motorcycle ran off the road and struck a mailbox in Pointe Coupee Parish Thursday.
According to Louisiana State Police, the crash happened shortly after 11 p.m. on LA 1 south of LA 978 in Pointe Coupee Parish.
Investigators say 34-year-old Anthony Freeman was driving northbound on LA 1 when “for unknown reasons” failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the roadway. Freeman’s motorcycle struck a mailbox and he was ejected from the bike.
Freeman was wearing a helmet but suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The Pointe Coupee Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead at the scene.
