BATON ROUGE- Dozens of people hugged and applauded Southern University's safety coach Sean Wallace before he left for MD Anderson to receive treatment for stage four pancreatic cancer.

Southern announced the heartbreaking news last week. Wednesday, the Jaguar community flooded the Metro Council chambers to show their support.

"The support has been unbelievable. I am focusing on being healthy, and believing in God for healing," Wallace said. "The outpouring of support has been tremendous, the jaguar nation as well as people across the nation has been unbelievable," Wallace continued.

Legendary coach Pete Richardson was also in attendance. He coached Wallace when he played at Southern.

"He is the heart and soul of Jaguar nation," Richardson said. "He is a fighter, he is going to give everything he has, and hopefully he will come back stronger."

Wallace will receive even more support at Southern's football game Saturday, as the Human Jukebox will wear "Sean Strong" t-shirts.

Despite his diagnosis, Wallace says he will be at the game Saturday.

"Let's pack the stadium and cheer on the Jaguars. Sean Wallace is going to win, I appreciate the support and I fully expect to win just like how I fully expect to win Saturday," Wallace said.

If you want to by a t-shirt, you can buy them on the Southern Foundations website. All proceeds will go to the Wallace family.
