BATON ROUGE- The Baton Rouge Metro Council introduced a smoking ban for discussion, Wednesday.
This was not a public hearing. The Metro Council plans to discuss and debate the potential ban on April 13th.
This smoking ban would make it illegal to smoke in businesses in the parish, including bars and casinos.
At a press conference Wednesday afternoon, supporters of the ban said this ban would have economic and health benefits. Another reason they support the ban, is to protect citizens from the effects of second-hand smoke.
