McKinley Middle Magnet to host Mustang Idol tonight
BATON ROUGE - Move over American Idol, Mustang Idol is in town.
Mustang Idol revs up tonight at McKinley Middle Magnet School and it promises to be a fun ride.
Live performances will feature 31 student groups or individuals competing in vocals, dance, drama and instrumental.
McKinley Middle Choir Director Dana Lux started the event three years ago. A total of 85 individual groups or students auditioned and the finalists will be showcased tonight at the school starting at 6:30 p.m.
This year's contest even includes a Instagram Fan Favorite Vote. To vote, students must got to the Mustang Idol Instagram and like the like the photo with their favorite act's name. Voting closes tonight at 5 p.m. and the winner will be announced at the event.
WBRZ Channel 2's anchor Sylvia Weatherspoon will serve as one of the judges. Sylvia attended McKinley Middle for 7th and 8th grade.
