SLIDELL - One person is dead following a crash involving two vehicles on I-10 Wednesday.

State Police said 52-year-old Jody G. Lasalle of Mandeville was killed following a crash near Oak Harbor Blvd. around 9 a.m.

Troopers said Lasalle was travelling eastbound when, for unknown reasons, his truck went across the median towards the westbound travel lanes. Lasalle's truck was struck on the driver's side by another truck.

Lasalle was transported to University Medical Center with moderate injuries, passing away later Wednesday at the hospital.

Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the crash. The driver of the other truck was not injured. Troopers say he provided a voluntary breath sample, which showed no amount of alcohol present. Troopers obtained blood samples from Lasalle as part of their investigation, to be analyzed by the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
