PORT ALLEN - According to the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office a man wanted for manslaughter surrendered to authorities Wednesday morning.

According to a release, 60-year-old Jerome Louis was wanted for killing 66-year-old Michael Church at a residence on Michigan Avenue in Port Allen earlier this month.

Originally deputies thought Church died from natural causes given his extensive medical history. It was later determined that he died from blunt force trauma to the head. He was found dead inside a home on June 18.

Deputies say Church was hit on the head with a beer bottle on June 16 after a verbal altercation in front of Louis' home on Louisiana Avenue.

No bond has been set at this time.
