BATON ROUGE - On Tuesday morning, LSU's Residential Life account tweeted, "unfortunately residence hall 3-student and 4-student rooms will not be options during room selection. We know this is not the news you want to hear - it's also news that we hate to deliver."

An LSU representative told WBRZ the decision to temporarily withhold 3-student and 4-student rooms from room selection was made to help the university manage its inventory leading into the fall semester.

The spokesperson said LSU will monitor conditions throughout the phased reopening of campus to see if and when 3- and 4-student room options can once again be offered.

LSU Residential Life reiterated that the temporary shuttering only applies to single residence hall rooms where three or four students share a sleeping space, less than 75 rooms on campus. It does not impact campus apartments or suite-style residence halls.

The University is preparing for a gradual reopen after closing due to the global COVID-19 health crisis. On Monday, May 18 some staff and faculty will begin returning to campus.
