BATON ROUGE - Popular wildlife photographer CC Lockwood wonders if he is a victim of some trick photography.

Recently, on a photography mission down the Mississippi River, a piece of driftwood looked very different once it was photographed. Jokingly, Lockwood shared his find on social media that is making its rounds on Facebook Tuesday.

"Always wondered how those big foot and monster fantasies get started," Lockwood posted on his Facebook page, making fun at the eerie similarities a piece of driftwood had to the Loch Ness Monster.

The legend of Scotland's Loch Ness Monster has been told for centuries. ABC News reported the first recorded sighting was in 1868 but the phenomenon did not take off until 1933 when a couple reported seeing a massive creature frolicking in the lake. A scientist, though, believes the whole tale may be nothing more than an illusion caused by earthquakes and gas bubbles.

In Louisiana, Lockwood's "Nessie" was captured with a Nikon D800. Lockwood laughed at the interest his Facebook post generated when he discussed it with WBRZ for this story.
